Earlier this weekend, I wrote about the unexpected retail joy that arrives with Presidents Day weekend—especially after surviving what felt like the 74th day of January. And the deals don’t stop at useful and stunning kitchen finds. The discounts extend to one of our favorite categories: shoes! Think: walking shoes, running sneakers, hiking boots and—even better—winter boots.
Here I’ve rounded up the best sneaker and boot deals I could find from favorite brands like Brooks, Hoka, On, Altra and more. From editor-loved Brooks to podiatrist-recommended Hokas, almost every pair on this list comes with an accolade. You’ll also spot rare markdowns on trail runners and cold-weather boots. Consider this your sign: Stop reading, start scrolling and click “add to cart” ASAP because we can’t guarantee these prices will last beyond today.

Hoka Kaha 3 GTX Hiking Boots
REI
We love a Hoka boots sale! This particular model checks a lot of boxes if you’re in the market for a winter boot: They’re waterproof; they cover your ankle for protection as you walk through snowy terrain; and the hook design makes them easy to get on and off.
Sorel Out N About IV Mid Sneaker Waterproof Boots
REI
When you’re shopping for winter boots, here’s what podiatrists recommend: Find a boot with a lightweight midsole, like this Sorel boot, for both cushioning and shock relief. “Also, consider options that keep your feet and body aligned and provide proper arch support to reduce the strain on both your plantar fascia and heel,” says Janine Ferrigno-Taddeo, D.P.M., a podiatrist at Millburn Podiatry in New Jersey.
On Cloudrock Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots
REI
It’s not common to find winter boots on sale in the middle of the season, yet here, we’ve found three great options. On sale for 30% off right now, these waterproof On Cloudrocks feature toe caps for extra durability and, to support even your longer hikes, an extra plush midsole and ankle coverage.
Brooks Glycerin 22 Shoe
Brooks
Senior Editor Megan Ginsberg says the Brooks Glycerin is her go-to running shoe—she’s logged almost 200 miles on her current pair and plans to buy another pair soon. If you’re looking for a little extra cushioning, the Glycerin GTS 22 is also 30% off right now.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24 Shoe
Brooks
The Brooks Adrenaline is consistently popular for its soft-cushioning support and the fact that it works for both road running and walking. Another perk to this shoe: We recently asked podiatrists for their favorite shoes for plantar fasciitis, and the Adrenaline GTS made their list.
Brooks Caldera 8 Shoe
Brooks
Not only does the tread on these trail shoes look ideal for both dry and wet trail conditions, but also Brooks is well-known for their support, cushion and ability to absorb shock. Translation: these are a must-buy this weekend for the upcoming hiking season.
Hoka Mach 6 Shoe
Hoka
Not only is this Hoka shoe comfortable, but it’s responsive when walking. The father-in-law of one of our writers loves this shoe, and he recommends the Hoka Mach 6 for its lightweight build, ample cushion and foam midsole.
Hoka Speedgoat 6 Shoe
Hoka
It’s not that common for a great trail shoe like this Hoka Speedgoat to go on sale. Better yet, this particular model is built for both hiking and trail running, thanks to the grippy tread. Get yourself a pair now while they’re marked down by almost $50.
Hoka Clifton 10 Shoe
Hoka
We can’t recommend this shoe enough: It’s a Hoka model that one of our walking-obsessed editors swears by, so much so that she gifted a pair to both of her parents! But also, when we asked podiatrists for their recommendations on the best shoes for treadmill walking, this particular Hoka is one they recommended.
Altra Experience Flow 2 Shoe
Amazon
If you have wider feet, then the Altra brand is a great option. We previously tested an earlier version of the Experience Flow and really liked how the top of the shoe spreads out wider than most running shoes. It gave our toes plenty of wiggle room, but the ankle and heel stil fit just right.
Altra Olympus 6 Trail Running Shoe
Amazon
We tested this Altra, too, and found it very comfortable. The stack height and zero drop took some getting used to, but for long trail runs, the grippy soles and the upper’s breathability won us over. Another benefit to this shoe: It received the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance.
Altra Timp 5 Trail Running Shoe
Amazon
Similar to the Olympus 6, the Altra Timp 5 has zero drop. But the stack on this shoe is a few millimeters shorter, and there are loops so you can easily attach gaiters when trail conditions are particularly wet. It’s not often that a trail shoe goes on sale, so you’ll want scoop this deal up.
