Water is something we all need. There are quite a few side effects if you don’t drink enough every day. Not only can you experience brain fog, low energy, mood swings and weakness, but it can also lead to headaches, weight gain, an increased risk of stroke, a slower metabolism, overeating and skin damage. While optimal hydration can vary from person to person, we generally recommend that women drink 11.5 cups of water per day, while men should aim for 15.5 cups.

The only issue? Water doesn’t always taste good, nor does it taste the same everywhere. There can be unwanted minerals and even forever chemicals that make it far less motivating to pour a glass. The easiest solution is to invest in a water filter pitcher, and we found what might be the perfect one.

    LifeStraw Home Water Pitcher

    Amazon

The LifeStraw is a sleek, double-filtered water pitcher that claims to remove all unwanted impurities from your water. It’s made from glass, meaning your risk of adding additional microplastics from the container itself is mitigated. It does have a plastic BPA-free filter system, although it’s challenging to find a water filter pitcher without one, unfortunately.

So, how does it work, exactly? The top section of the white insert includes a tall, slim membrane filter that removes microplastics, and potentially bacteria, according to the brand. Once the water passes through this filter, it makes its way through a carbon and ion exchange filter that can eliminate chemicals like PFAs (aka forever chemicals), lead, mercury and other heavy metals. LifeStraw claims that between the two filters, you’ll be weeding out over 30 contaminants while still maintaining the presence of minerals like magnesium and potassium.

The membrane filter needs replacing once a year, and the carbon and ion filter every two months. Thankfully, the initial purchase of the pitcher includes filters, plus the brand sells a year’s worth of filters in a convenient kit for repurchase.

This particular bottle holds up to 7 cups of water. It has a nifty spout on top and a flip-top lid to refill it easily. And, to make sure it doesn’t move around, the base is fitted with a removable silicone sleeve.

Amazon shoppers rave about this pitcher’s “perfect” design. “I have used numerous water filter pitchers over the years from numerous brands. This is by far the best-designed one as well as the one that produces the best-tasting filtered water,” one reviewer wrote. “You can actually fill this one with water and use it immediately after without unfiltered water being poured out.”

“I notice a stark difference between water before the filter and after the filter,” a third person added, speaking to the filters’ effectiveness. “We like the design, how easy it is to clean and how easy it is to replace the filters,” a fourth shopper noted.

For cleaner water that’ll help you hit those necessary hydration goals, opt for the smart LifeStraw water pitcher. While it runs for $49, it’s undoubtedly “worth the money.”
