When you think of ice cream, you may only think of summer. But let us be the first to tell you that you’re missing out if you’re ignoring the ice cream section at the grocery store come wintertime. From seasonal holiday flavors to returning fan favorites and all the peppermint-chocolate treats your heart could desire, there are plenty of delicious new treats awaiting you in the freezer aisle—even when it feels like you’re living in one when venturing outside.
But we couldn’t help but notice, it’s been a while since we heard from our two favorite guys in the ice cream biz: Ben and Jerry. Since launching Fudgy Flan over the summer and bringing back Pumpkin Cheesecake this fall, it felt like we were overdue for a drop from the brand. And right on time, Ben & Jerry’s is launching a whole new line of treats.
Ben & Jerry’s Introduces New Ice Cream Bars
Ben & Jerry’s just announced it’s releasing not one new flavor, but an entire brand-new line of treats: Ice Cream Bars. According to a press release, the ice cream bars showcase “All the irresistible chunks & swirls fans know and love, in a handy-on-the-go-bar.”
The new treats are launching in five varieties—each inspired by one of Ben & Jerry’s beloved flavors. The Ice Cream Bars will be available in Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, PB Pretzel, and Caramel Blondie. Each bar features ice cream with plenty of chunks and swirls, all dipped in a chocolatey coating that has cookie pieces mixed right in.
Ben & Jerry’s
If you can’t believe Ben & Jerry’s went this long without offering an ice cream bar, well, technically it hasn’t. Ben & Jerry’s previously packaged some best-selling flavors, including Cherry Garcia and Half Baked, in bar form, but they haven’t been spotted on shelves in years. In 2017, the brand also launched Pint Slices—ice cream pucks coated in chocolate—but they appear to have been discontinued in the early 2020s.
Early response to the new ice cream bars on social media is overwhelmingly positive, with commenters writing “I’ve been waiting for this moment and it did not disappoint,” and “Woo hoo! So glad to see these after the slices were discontinued.”
But if you’re curious if they live up to the hype, we have good news. Allrecipes got an early taste of the new bars—here’s our honest review.
Our Honest Review of Ben & Jerry’s New Ice Cream Bars
Allrecipes editor Bailey Fink was lucky enough to score an early taste of the Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bars at Ben & Jerry’s HQ in Vermont. Here’s what she had to say about the new treat:
“I was only able to try the Cookie Dough bars, and it’s basically the pint in chocolate-covered bar form. The ice cream is, of course, the ultra-rich and creamy, high-quality dessert you’re expecting from Ben & Jerry’s, and I really enjoyed the crunchy cookie bits on the outside of the bar.”
Fink added, “My only complaint is that my bar barely had any chocolate chip cookie dough pieces in it. So, it did leave me craving more of the chunks Ben & Jerry’s is so well known for, but I think in a bar with smaller pieces (like PB Pretzel or Strawberry Cheesecake) you wouldn’t have that problem, and I can’t wait to try those!”
Whether you’re still mourning the Pint Slices or simply can’t wait to try all five new flavors, you’ll only have to be patient for a little longer. The new line will be in stores as soon as January 2026. Each of the new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream bar flavors will be available in a four-bar multipack, priced at $5.99–$7.49 depending on the store. Individually packaged Cookie Dough Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Bars will also be dropping into convenience stores next spring, priced at $3.99 each.
Now that’s how you kick off the new year on a sweet note.
