Baskin-Robbins keeps fans buzzing online all year long with a monthly rotation of new flavors, from last month’s Dubai Chocolate-inspired treats and to this month’s new Peppermint-packed lineup. And if scoops aren’t your thing, Baskin-Robbins also has delicious ice cream cakes, including the M&Ms candy-studded Cake in a Box, which debuted over the summer.
But there’s one ice cream cake that’s become a coveted bucket list experience for fans. However, it’s not available on this continent. The popular ice cream chain isn’t just a hit in the United States. Baskin-Robbins has locations around the world, featuring menu items that are unique to each country. And there’s one international treat that fans in the U.S. are absolutely begging for.
Baskin-Robbins’ Loopy Ice Cream Cake Goes Viral
Ice cream cakes are a popular dessert, whether you purchase one from the store or whip up a homemade confection. And Baskin-Robbins in Seoul, South Korea, has several cakes on its menu, including a frosty treat that’s gone viral on social media. But make no mistake, this whimsical creation is quite different from any ice cream cake you’ve ever seen.
Instead of solid layers, the Loopy Ice Cream Cake features stacks of individual flavors in bite-sized portions. The top layer features ice cream bites shaped like stars, while the middle and bottom tiers feature multicolored cylinders, with fruity sorbet and candy-studded ice cream.
The flavors vary from layer to layer, and include cotton candy, banana, melon, cherry, mint chocolate chip, rainbow sherbet, and almond bonbon, to name a few. Each tier is separated with a pink tray to keep the flavors from mixing with each other, and at the center is a pink star-topped wand that converts into stackable, reusable forks. The wand also features Loopy, a beloved beaver in the South Korean cartoon “Pororo the Little Penguin.”
TikTok creator @courtneecrews shared a video sampling the cake, sharing that this had been on their bucket list for more than a year. And fans flooded the comments, sharing envy from the U.S. “The colors and shapes are so cute, I need to try this one day!” exclaimed one person.
“I swear we have no whimsy in the United States anymore,” shared another. “I want this cake so badly.”
The reusable fork has also become a huge hit, with fans stating that they would buy the cake just for the fork wand.
The Loopy-inspired ice cream cake is only sold at select Baskin-Robbins locations in South Korea, so for any fans in the U.S., you’ll have to take a trip to give it a try. Otherwise, head to your nearest BR to sample some of the delicious, yet less whimsical, ice cream cakes available now.
And who knows! Maybe with enough online chatter, this magical cake—or just the fork—will make an appearance on U.S. menus in the future.
