    “This type of bread can make it easier to lower calories without feeling restricted,” explains Pratt. Because the bread contains added fibers that may be harder for some people to tolerate at first, she suggests starting with one slice and seeing how your digestion responds before increasing your portion.

Thin-sliced breads can be “helpful because they are naturally lower in calories while still tasting like regular bread,” says Vandana Sheth, RDN, CDCES, FAND. This makes it an easy everyday choice for anyone seeking a moderate lower-carb option that still feels familiar and satisfying.

This can be a helpful option for people who want to keep their carbohydrate intake lower without cutting out bread entirely, making it feel more sustainable, explains Kaitlin Hippley, M.Ed., RDN, LD, CDCES. 

    This slice also has a lighter texture, which can make it easier to enjoy regularly without feeling overly dense.

Its main ingredient is sprouted wheat, and it also contains grains and legumes like barley, millet and lentils, which provide fiber and plant-based protein. The sprouted-grain base also creates a denser texture, which makes it especially satisfying for open-face sandwiches or avocado toast, says Pratt.
