As someone who rents an apartment in a city, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that home storage and organization hacks are my kryptonite. A lazy susan for my oils and vinegars, so I can easily grab what I need in one swift spin? I’m all ears. An over-the-door organizer that instantly expands the pantry? You don’t need to tell me twice. Magazine holders that double as storage for Tupperware lids? Say no more. But one of my absolute favorite storage items is a nifty foldable shelf from Dollar Tree that doubles the usable space in my cabinets. Best of all? It’s only $1.50.

If you’re fed up with finding cluttered piles of miscellaneous items in all your cabinets, consider stocking up on Dollar Tree’s Essential White Wire Cabinet Shelves.

The metal foldable racks can be placed anywhere from kitchen cabinets to bathroom drawers, adding another “shelf” or level for you to place items on top of or underneath. I use them in my kitchen to separate pots and pans, so they’re not stacked haphazardly. They’re also great for separating mugs and glasses, as well as pantry staples such as canned goods, bags of pasta, and more.

Beyond the kitchen, I have one of these on my work desk, since it doesn’t have drawers. The shelf acts like a drawer, as I can tuck small items underneath, which has been a godsend. So long are the days of loose pens and pencils and stacks of sticky notes and paper clips sprawled sloppily on the table.

According to the product page on Dollar Tree’s website, I’m not the only person who loves these. “In doubt? Just get them,” one reviewer shared. “I love these little racks! They’re so great for decluttering and organizing cabinets…I ordered 12 in addition to what I had already purchased earlier this year. I think I’m going to need even more. For the price, they can’t be beat!”

“Amazing investment,” shared another DT shopper. “These are great! I ordered an entire pack and use them all over the house. Way cheaper than other places for the same quality! All came in perfect condition. Don’t use them for anything too heavy, but they work for most things!”

Another person mentioned buying the shelves in bulk and using zip ties to attach them and arrange them in different configurations. While the idea is brilliant in theory, the racks are somewhat flimsy, and I find that using them separately rather than combined feels more sturdy—but that’s just my opinion.

Listen, no one is stopping you from becoming the most organized person in your friend group. If it would be more efficient for you to line them up in a cabinet and secure them with a zip tie to store more items, be my guest. And, if you have another genius idea for how to use this handy shelf from Dollar Tree, let me know, I’m taking notes.
