    • From fresh produce to indulgent desserts, Aldi employees share the most underrated products.
    • Strained (Greek-style) yogurt, chocolate sandwich cookies, avocados and mangoes top the list.
    • Employees also callout a deli dill dip, chocolate lava cakes and kettle-cooked potato chips.

Aldi has built a devoted following thanks to its unique business model of offering high-quality products at budget-friendly prices. Unlike traditional supermarkets that stock tens of thousands of items, Aldi hand-selects only the best products so customers aren’t “overwhelmed by choices.” About 90% of their brands are Aldi-exclusive or private-label.

So, which are the best of the best? When it comes to this type of insider knowledge, who better to ask than the employees who stock the shelves and hear customer feedback daily? We talked with Aldi team members to identify which products they can’t stop recommending and buying for themselves. Here are seven employee-approved products that deserve a spot in your cart.

    1. Friendly Farms Plain Greek Yogurt

    Aldis. EatingWell design.

Elizabeth, an Aldi team member from San Diego, California, can’t say enough good things about the store’s Friendly Farms Nonfat Greek Yogurt. She loves it because “it’s so versatile and works in both sweet and savory recipes.”

While it’s great straight from the container with fruit and granola, it also adds creaminess and protein to smoothies, works as a lighter topping for tacos and baked potatoes and can be mixed with herbs and spices to make flavorful dips and dressings. Plus, it’s packed with protein (16 grams per ¾-cup serving) and probiotics that support gut health, all while being lower in calories than many dairy alternatives.

    2. Benton’s Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

Move over, name-brand Oreos. Aldi’s Benton’s Chocolate Sandwich Cookies have earned a following among both shoppers and staff. Emily, a San Diego-based Aldi employee, says they “taste like real Oreos” and swears by this popular cookie dupe.

At a fraction of the original price, these chocolate wafer cookies with vanilla filling deliver the same crunch and flavor you crave. Enjoy them the traditional way, dunked in milk, or get creative by crushing them to top yogurt parfaits and ice cream.

    3. Fresh Avocados

    Aldis. EatingWell design.

According to Bryan, an Aldi employee in San Diego, avocados are “best sellers in our store—everyone gets them all the time.” Aldi’s commitment to quality produce at competitive prices makes their avocados a reliable choice for shoppers looking to add healthy fats to their diet without breaking the bank.

Rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber, and nutrients like potassium and folate, avocados pack a lot of nutrition into every bite. Mash them for classic guacamole, slice them onto toast with everything bagel seasoning, add them to smoothies for creaminess or dice them into salads and grain bowls.

    4. Park Street Deli Dill Dip

    Aldis. EatingWell design.

Aldi’s Park Street Deli Dill Dip is a refrigerated section choice that deserves more recognition. This creamy, herb-forward dip combines the bright, tangy flavor of fresh dill with a rich, smooth base, making it “an excellent pairing for fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers and cherry tomatoes,” notes Nathan, a San Diego-based Aldi employee. It also works wonderfully as a spread for sandwiches and wraps, or as a flavorful addition to pasta salad.

    5. Fresh Mangoes

    Aldis. EatingWell design.

Bryan also raves about Aldi’s fresh mangoes, calling them “a great value for the quality you get.” These tropical fruits are a sweet, juicy addition to your produce rotation, offering a burst of flavor at a price point that makes them accessible year-round.

Rich in vitamin C, vitamin A and fiber, mangoes support immune health and gut health while satisfying your sweet tooth naturally. Enjoy them sliced and eaten fresh, blended into smoothies for tropical flavor, diced into salsas to top grilled fish or chicken or cubed and tossed into fruit salads.

    6. Specially Selected Chocolate Lava Cakes

When you need a delicious dessert without the fuss, Bryan, an Aldi employee in San Diego, California, recommends reaching for the Specially Selected Chocolate Lava Cakes. He loves them for their “super rich, chocolatey taste and affordable price.”

These individual chocolate cakes feature a gooey center that flows out when you cut into them. Simply heat them in the microwave or oven for a few minutes and you have an indulgent dessert that looks and tastes like it came from a high-end bakery. Serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, fresh berries or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra-special touch.

    7. Clancy’s Sea Salt Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips in Avocado Oil

    Aldis. EatingWell design.

For those looking for a better-for-you snack without sacrificing flavor, Clancy’s Sea Salt Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips are a standout option. Nathan notes that the chips are “cooked in avocado oil rather than conventional vegetable oils,” which provides heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and a high smoke point well suited for kettle cooking.

A simple sea salt seasoning lets the potato flavor and richness of the oil come through, delivering a satisfying crunch with every bite. Naturally gluten-free, they’re suitable for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities and can be enjoyed on their own, paired with a sandwich or dip, or used as a crispy topping for casseroles.

    Our Expert Take

Aldi employees have spoken, and these seven products represent some of the best values and flavors the store has to offer. From fresh produce to indulgent desserts and better-for-you snacks, this list shows how Aldi delivers quality across categories at budget-friendly prices. Whether you’re a longtime Aldi shopper or curious first-timer, adding these employee favorites to your shopping list is an easy way to see why this grocery store chain has earned such a loyal following.
