Everyone knows Arby’s iconic tagline, “We Have the Meats,” but it might surprise you just how true that is. Sure, the Midwestern chain is known for its slow-roasted beef sandwiches, from the original to the beloved Beef N’ Cheddar, but over the years, fans have fallen head over heels for Arby’s additional meaty sandwiches, like the French Dip and Swiss and even the “overlooked” Gyro.
In addition to the Greek Gyro and saucy French Dip, Arby’s delivers everything from smoked brisket and steakhouse-style burgers to juicy chicken and Lent-friendly fish. Plus, the chain tends to get extra-creative with its limited-time menu items, introducing Steak Nuggets and a game meat Big Game Burger in the past.
But, even with so many options to choose from, a lot of us Arby’s fans (myself included) have had a go-to for years that they stick with. For me, I’ve never strayed from the Classic Roast Beef Sandwich with a side of curly fries and spicy Horsey Sauce—and I’m not alone.
At a recent event launching Arby’s limited-time Italian Beef Dip Sandwich, we chatted with the brand president, David Graves, about his favorite items on the menu. Here’s what the Arby’s exec is ordering at the drive-thru.
The Best Arby’s Sandwich, According to Its Brand President
Like many of us, Graves has two go-to orders at Arby’s. The first is his favorite limited-time order that he gets when it’s on the menu, while the second is his everyday favorite that always hits the spot.
Graves tells Allrecipes that he loves Arby’s cheesesteaks, which the chain has released in a few iterations. The most recent cheesesteak, which debuted in the summer of 2025, was made with thinly-shaved Angus steak, onions, bell peppers, American cheese, and garlic aioli on a toasted roll. Hopefully, since Arby’s own brand president loves them so much, it means we’ll see some new cheesesteaks hitting the menu in the future.
When Arby’s isn’t serving up the beloved, Philly-born sandwich, Graves turns to the most classic item on the restaurant’s menu: the roast beef.
The best Arby’s sandwich, Graves tells Allrecipes, is the Classic Roast Beef, served on a toasted sesame seed bun—but with two modifications. Graves adds shredded lettuce and tomato to his Classic Roast Beef sandwich, along with a packet of tangy, creamy, spicy Horsey Sauce.
Since the OG roast beef sandwich is what put Arby’s on the map, you might not think to touch the simple slow-roasted beef sammy, unless you’re adding cheese sauce to make it a Beef N’ Cheddar. But, you can modify your Arby’s sandwich to include vegetables—like lettuce, tomato, pickles, crispy onion straws, and red onion—as well as add cheese, bacon, Red Ranch sauce, or even change the bun.
Leave it to the Arby’s exec to know how to hack the menu just right. Now, if you excuse us, we’ll be heading to the drive-thru to try his order.
