Easter treats don’t have to begin and end with chocolate eggs. If you’re not a chocoholic, there is still plenty out there for you to entry. Think: sticky, spice-laced hot cross buns, slices of fruity simnel cake and swoon-worthy hampers packed with both sweet and savoury treats to share (or not!). Whether you’re building the ultimate Easter spread, planning an Easter egg hunt or looking for something a little bit different for gifting, these picks bring all the fun without the foil-wrapped overload. Consider this your guide to the tastiest, most tempting seasonal treats that aren’t Easter eggs – but might just outshine them.

If it’s still a classic egg you’re after, check out our tried-and-tested round up of the best Easter eggs to buy for all our favourites from Hotel Chocolat, Lindt and more.

Best Easter treats to buy 2026

M&S luxury fruited hot cross buns

The Easter season doesn’t start until you’ve had your first hot cross bun (and just like mince pies at Christmas, we like to start early to make the most of their time on the shelves!). These are one of our favourite supermarket hot cross buns: a classic, super-squidgy bun studded with plenty of juicy fruit.

    Available from:
    Ocado (£2.50/pack of four)
    M&S

    Cadbury Easter favourites pouch

If you’re planning an Easter egg hunt this year, you need this selection of Easter favourites from Cadbury. Inside, you’ll find tiny bags of Mini Eggs (with a surprisingly generous amount inside each), plus classic Creme Eggs and solid chocolate eggs. They’re all perfect for hiding around the house – just don’t forget where you stashed them!

    Available from:
    Cadbury Gifts Direct (£8)
    Ocado (£6.50)
    Tesco (£5.75)

Snowdonia Cheese Co cheese and chocolate tasting basket

Here’s a way to end the chocolate versus cheese debate: have both! This sharing basket pairs four Snowdonia cheeses with four single-estate Willie’s Cacao chocolate bars – keeping both chocolate and cheese lovers happy this Easter.

    Available from:
    Snowdonia Cheese Co (£48)

    The Newt hot cross buns

If you’re looking for an alternative to supermarket hot cross buns, these are the ticket, as they’re made in small batches in Somerset. They’re on the breadier side, which is ideal for traditionalists who find some shop-bought buns too sweet or squidgy. They toast nicely, staying soft instead of crisping on top.

    Available from:
    The Newt (£5.95/pack of four)

    Gail’s tote bag

    • Available from Gail’s (£15, in store)

Not all Easter gifts on 0ur wish list are edible! Next time you’re in Gail’s for coffee or pastries, pick up one of its new, limited-edition hot cross bun-themed tote bags, too. Available in a range of pastel colours and embroidered with the words of the classic nursery rhyme, they’re the prettiest way to transport Easter hauls.

    Available from:
    Gail’s (£15, in store)

    Waitrose No.1 simnel cake

The simnel cake is a classic Easter centrepiece, and a must-have for marzipan lovers. Winner of the best simnel cake in our 2026 Easter Supermarket Awards, this Waitrose option has a pretty design and smart fluted marzipan edge, which is evenly toasted. It’s a generous size, and has a good spice level and lovely texture. The marzipan also delivers a good depth of almond flavour.

    Available from:
    Waitrose (£15)

Honey & Co hot cross buns

    • Available from Honey & Co (£3.60, in store)

This is another gourmet hot cross bun to seek out this Easter. Usually, we’re adamant that a hot cross bun should be toasted and (heavily) buttered, but these Honey & Co buns impressed enough that we’d eat them just as they are. They’re lightly spiced with cardamom and mahleb (far from your usual flavours), have a sticky glaze and are studded with extra-juicy pieces of candied peel and sour cherries.

    Available from:
Honey & Co (£3.60, in store)

Ask Mummy & Daddy jelly carrots

Have a break from all that Easter chocolate and try these fun sweets instead – they’re soft and squidgy with moreish tang, and are even vegan-friendly. Add to Easter baskets or enjoy them as part of the Easter egg hunt share tub that’s filled with marshmallows, mini eggs and sour sweets.

    Available from:
Not on the High Street (£3.29)

    Well & Truly Easter truffles

Another vegan-friendly gem we’ve discovered this Easter, these indulgent truffles are made with oat milk chocolate and have silky Piedmont hazelnut paste centres. They’re also gluten-free and made with ethically sourced, single-origin Fino de Aroma cocoa for an Easter treat you can feel good about.

    Available from:
    Well & Truly (£7.99)
