Oh, Trader Joe’s. How you love to give, then take away. You offer us Sweetheart White Stilton Cheese with bits of chocolate, caramel fudge, and cherries, only to pull it back a few weeks later. You tempt us with jars of Hot and Sweet Pepper Jelly, and make us quickly stock up before it disappears again. And don’t get us started on the Patio Potato Chips and Banana Pudding Ice Cream—we can never get enough before they’re gone again. Yet, we keep coming back. Because, dear TJ’s, the heartbreak is worth the delicious products.
But the grocery chain clearly knows what it’s doing. When a favorite is spotted back on shelves, fans go wild. They take to the streets (or, in this case, the internet) in celebration. Now, that is exactly what is happening—once again—with a crispy, crunchy, savory snack that was introduced last spring.
Trader Joe’s Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips Are Back
Trader Joe’s
Garlic. Butter. Potato Chips. Need we say more? The returning Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips transform beloved ingredients from garlic mashed potatoes into a snackable treat. Trader Joe’s describes them as “salty, buttery, and delightfully garlicky, with a charmingly toothsome texture”—perfect for laying in sandwiches, or dipping into Caramelized Onion Dip.
When savvy shoppers discovered they were back, word spread. A Reddit thread titled “Don’t walk, run to get the Garlic Butter chips” is full of rave reviews. “These are upsettingly good! I had to resist every urge to go back inside and get more bags,” exclaims one user. Another adds, “I’m eating an entire bag right now and I can’t stop—HELP.”
Elsewhere, fans describe the flavor of the ridged chips: “It’s like eating garlic butter in chip form. The taste is so intense in the BEST way!” And many agreed, “These chips are sooo delicious. One of their best snacks ever!”
The customers who aren’t as excited about this returning flavor seem to be missing—and even mistaking it for—TJ’s other beloved snack by the same producer. So we can only hope to see those Cashel Blue Cheese Irish Potato Chips return next.
In the meantime, excuse us while we run to Trader Joe’s and add 10 bags of garlic butter chips to cart. And we suggest you do the same—as we all now understand, they’re not going to be around forever.
