There’s nothing I love more than my obligatory morning coffee and pastry. OK, well, I may not eat a pastry every morning, but when I do choose to satisfy my sweet tooth bright and early, I always gravitate toward almond croissants. While I do enjoy cinnamon rolls and chocolate muffins, there’s something so special about an almond croissant. It’s an elevated version of the original, still boasting that buttery, flaky goodness but with a hint of extra sweetness, thanks to the creamy frangipane filling, cut through by smooth, nutty notes that pair exceptionally well with a cup of coffee.
Turns out, I’m not alone in my adoration for the sweet treat. Just the other day, I saw that Costco’s bakery had brought back a fan-favorite pastry, and everyone is, rightfully, thrilled about it. As for me, well, I’m already planning my Costco trip to buy it in multiples.
Costco’s Almond Croissant Pastry Is Back
Almost a year ago to the day, Costco’s bakery unveiled the Almond Croissant Pastry along with the Onion Cheese Pinwheels. Like clockwork, shoppers have started to see the fan-favorite pastry back in the warehouse.
Large and delicious, the almond croissants come in a six-count container for $12.47, or $2.08 each. I don’t know about you, but that’s a much better deal than buying one at a café. Cost aside, people can’t get enough of them because of their taste and texture.
They feature butter croissant dough with a crisp, golden-brown exterior and several satisfying layers when cut. Speaking of the interior, you’ll be met with the most decadent almond filling that isn’t overwhelming and “better than our local bakeries,” according to a Reddit thread. It’s finished with sliced almonds baked into the tops of the dough and sprinkled with powdered sugar that not only tastes good but also looks good. Even better, the same Redditor mentioned that it tastes “even more delicious when warmed up a bit.”
When the news of its return made its way to social media, someone on Instagram raved, “These are absolutely deliciously amazing.” Another agreed, saying, “OMG, all my favorite things in one.” For others already familiar with the pastry, it wasn’t exactly an immediate warm embrace: “They were so good that I got sick because of overeating.”
If you’re not feeding the six-count croissants to multiple mouths, don’t fret just yet. As one fan mentioned, you can freeze the sweets, which will help them last longer and reduce the pressure to finish the entire container before they spoil. What’s more, these don’t have to be reserved for breakfast, either. “We love heating these up in our air fryer or toaster oven and then putting a scoop of ice cream on top,” notes one shopper.
Ice cream and croissants, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself. My fellow almond-lovers, make sure to head to your nearest Costco to get your hands on the Almond Croissant Pastry in the bakery section.
