Detwiler family at new distribution center
On Sept. 29, Detwiler’s Farm Market, a family-owned grocery chain based in Florida, announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution center at the Florida International Tradeport in Palmetto, FL. The new facility spans 133,000 square feet.
According to Detwiler’s, the new distribution center will serve as the hub for the company’s stores, create new jobs, strengthen the local supply chains and give Detwiler’s the capacity to keep food prices low and preparing for future store openings.
Detwiler’s was founded in 2002 as a roadside produce stand and has since grown to six stores. The company is known for its fresh local produce, deli, bakery, seafood, meat, natural grocery and wellness products.
“This facility represents an important investment into our community. By bringing our operations under one roof, we can operate more efficiently, create more jobs and pass along even better pricing to our customers. It also gives us the ability to grow and open more stores in the future,” said Sam Detwiler, company president.
“From our start in a small roadside tent to where we are today, it’s been incredible to see how this community has supported us. This distribution center allows us to give back—by creating opportunities for local families and making sure we provide fresh food at a fair price for years to come,” added Detwiler’s Founder Henry Detwiler, Sr.
