    • Frozen spinach recalled nationwide over possible Listeria contamination—check your freezer.
    • No illnesses so far, but Listeria infection can be severe for sensitive groups, so dispose of or return any affected product
    • HelloFresh meals with spinach also flagged under a public health alert by the FSIS.

A recall was just announced on frozen spinach sold nationwide, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is due to a Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The products being recalled are bulk Del Mar 35-pound Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and Sno Pac Organic Frozen Cut Spinach sold in 10-ounce bags. The Sno Pac brand products were sold in retail locations across the U.S. and contain lot codes SPM1.190.5, SPC1.160.5, SPC2.160.5 or SPM1.097.5 with the following best-by dates: 7/9/27, 6/9/27, 6/9/27 and 4/7/27, respectively.

While no illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall, Listeria infection (listeriosis) can be severe for those age 65 or older, young children, immunocompromised individuals or for those who are pregnant. Common symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Contact a healthcare provider if you are experiencing signs of foodborne illness after eating the recalled spinach.

If you have one of the recalled products on hand, dispose of the frozen spinach or return to your place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 507-725-5281, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the above recall, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on two HelloFresh products in connection to this spinach recall. The following impacted items were shipped directly to consumers by HelloFresh:

    • 10.1-ounce containers of “HELLO FRESH READY MADE MEALS CHEESY PULLED PORK PEPPER PASTA” with establishment number “Est. 47718” and lot code 49107 or establishment number “Est. 2937” and lot code 48840.
    • 10-ounce containers of “HELLO FRESH READY MADE MEALS UNSTUFFED PEPPERS WITH GROUND TURKEY” with establishment number “P-47718” and lot codes 50069, 50073 or 50698.

Check your refrigerator for these products. For questions about the HelloFresh meals impacted, contact FreshRealm’s customer service hotline at 1-888-244-1562 or email customerservice@freshrealm.com.
