The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced a recall on a Häagen-Dazs ice cream product sold in 31 states. This is due to an undeclared allergen.
The product affected is six-count boxes of Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars sold at Kroger and Giant Eagle locations in 31 total states. The ice cream’s packaging contains batch code LLA519501 and a best-by date of January 31, 2027.
The retail locations in the following states are affected by this recall:
- Kroger: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming
- Giant Eagle: Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia
Check your freezer, and if you have the recalled ice cream on hand, dispose of it or return to your place of purchase for a refund. The mini bars are being recalled because they may contain wheat, a common allergen that is not listed in the product’s ingredients. Those with a wheat allergy or celiac disease may experience side effects as severe as anaphylaxis when consuming this product. If you are showing signs of allergic reaction, call 911 immediately.
