Hostess Just Released a New Kind of Twinkies—but It’s Not in the Snack Aisle

Hostess has dominated the snack cake world for more than 100 years. And the brand continues to come out with new products for shoppers to try, from Wicked-inspired cupcakes to this year’s holiday lineup of festive treats.

Hostess also brought back several beloved creations this fall, such as the Maple Glazed Donettes and Suzy Q’s Chocolate Cake. The snack cake king also created a mini version of its namesake treat this year.

But now, Hostess has released a first-of-its-kind item that you won’t find in the snack aisle.

Hostess is changing the baking game with its brand-new Candy Wafers, which are available in two flavors: Ding Dongs and Twinkies. While the concept of the sweet product is simple (or pretty genius if you’re a diehard Hostess fan), the opportunities to get creative with them in the kitchen are endless. The Twinkies flavor would be perfect for coating pretzels or topping homemade vanilla cupcakes. And either flavor would be delicious drizzled on top of an iced latte.

Food blogger @markie_devo posted about the new find on Instagram, and fans flooded the comments section with excitement. One person wrote, “Those candy wafers sound amazing.”

Another person shared how they’re going to experiment with the new product. “I kinda wanna take the actual cakes and coat these in the melted Candy Wafers,” they said.

Both the Twinkies and Ding Dongs Candy Wafers are now available at Walmart, and are sold in 10-ounce bags for $3.98. So, if you want to give your holiday baking a Hostess twist, you’ll want to head to your local Walmart ASAP.
