    • Kelsea Ballerini mixes pilates three times a week with daily treadmill walks.
    • Her daily walk follows the trending ‘hot girl walk’ routine, which you can try anywhere.
    • Regular walks are a great form of exercise that can help you support overall health.

It’s always interesting to hear about our favorite celebrities’ go-to workouts, from Jennifer Aniston’s on-set arm workout to Padma Lakshmi’s at-home exercise routine. But if we’re being honest, there are some celeb workouts that may not feel realistic for the average person. Recently, Kelsea Ballerini shared her workout routine on Instagram, and it’s one we appreciate.

In an ask me anything (AMA) segment on her Instagram stories, the country singer and The Voice coach was asked about her go-to ab workout. “Wow, thank you for asking this,” she responded. “Abs have been my goal and focus lately, mainly because my belly has been my insecurity my whole life, and I want to see how I can healthily shift that narrative for myself.”

So what does the “Baggage” singer do to work toward that healthy mindset shift? “Truthfully, right now my abs are day-dependent,” she admitted. “But my routine is pilates three times a week, a ‘hot girl walk’ every day… and then I just enjoy my food and wine, and I don’t really worry about it.”

We love Ballerini’s focus on mindful movement every day while enjoying delicious food and not sweating the small stuff where her body is concerned. And since pilates, an exercise style similar to yoga that strengthens the body’s alignment and balance through controlled movements and breathing patterns, can help build strength, improve posture and decrease stress, it’s a strong addition to any weekly workout schedule.

Not familiar with Ballerini’s daily “hot girl walk?” The singer says she walks 30 minutes every day on a treadmill, “half at 4.0 (speed) flat (incline), half at 3.6 (speed) at an 8-10 incline.” But there’s more to the hot girl walking trend than numbers.

Mia Lind trademarked the term “hot girl walk” after embracing daily walks to address feelings of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Lind leads a Hot Girl Walk movement, creating treadmill routines and playlists for participants and hosting community walking events. She’s even authored a book about the movement, Hot Girl Walk: Find Happiness, Achieve Your Dreams, and Cultivate Confidence.

Lind says the style of walking, which involves practicing gratitude and thinking about your goals throughout the walk, is about conveying the idea that “anybody can be a hot girl.”

“Social media tells us we have to look a certain way and eat a certain way to be ‘hot,'” Lind tells EatingWell, “but being hot is all about confidence, and I think people really resonate with that.” Lind also says what makes hot girl walks the workout of choice for everyone from college students to country music stars is that these walks can be done anywhere, from the trail to the treadmill. We also love that walking can be a great form of exercise, helping you reach your fitness goals without special equipment or a gym membership.

Since Ballerini sings about everything from heartbreak to friendship, it’s no surprise that she has embraced the hot girl walk. In time, we can only hope worlds will collide and Lind will create a Hot Girl Walk playlist featuring Ballerini’s hits.
