    • This beverage is the perfect sports drink swap, thanks to coconut water and pomegranate juice.
    • You can mix up this easy drink in seconds, no blender or special equipment required.
    • The coconut water and pinch of salt help replenish minerals naturally.

Make a glass of this No-Added-Sugar Electrolyte Drink and thank us later! Electrolyte-rich coconut water adds a tropical flavor, while tart pomegranate juice adds a splash of brightness. A squeeze of fresh lime balances the flavors with a clean, citrusy finish, and a pinch of salt helps replace minerals lost through sweat. This drink is ideal after a workout or on a hot day. Keep reading for tips and creative customizations to make this drink uniquely yours!

Tips from the EatingWell Test Kitchen

These are the key tips we learned while developing and testing this recipe in our Test Kitchen to make sure it works, tastes great and is good for you too!

    • Chilling the ingredients before you mix up the drink makes it instantly refreshing without needing ice.
    • Use fine sea salt or table salt. It dissolves best for this recipe.
    • We recommend fresh lime juice instead of store-bought. Store-bought lime juice may have a bitter taste.

    Nutrition Notes

    • Coconut water is known as “nature’s sports drink” for its hydrating electrolyte content of potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium. Coconut water can help support heart and bone health thanks to its high potassium content. Make sure to choose unsweetened coconut water for this drink to eliminate the added sugars.
    • Pomegranate juice is rich in potent antioxidants called anthocyanins that have been shown to support heart, brain and cell health. You’re also getting anti-inflammatory benefits from the high polyphenol content. Pomegranates are naturally sweet, so using unsweetened pomegranate juice will provide a source of sweetness without any added sugars in this beverage.
    • Lime juice provides a source of extra hydration thanks to its electrolytes—potassium, calcium and magnesium. You’re also getting a source of vitamin C for added immunity and cell health.
