    This cozy, No-Added-Sugar “Mulled Wine” Mocktail captures all the flavors of classic mulled wine without the alcohol or added sugar. A mix of antioxidant-rich pomegranate and apple juices simmer with spices to create a warm, inviting aroma. The result is a deeply spiced, naturally sweet drink that feels festive for the holiday season. Check out the tips below on how to serve and customize the recipe to fit any occasion.

    These are the key tips we learned while developing and testing this recipe in our Test Kitchen to make sure it works, tastes great and is good for you too! 

    • For a bolder flavor, gently crush the cardamom pods or add an extra cinnamon stick; for a subtler taste, remove the spices after 15 to 20 minutes of simmering.
    • Cool the strained mixture and serve over ice for a refreshing, sangria-style drink in warmer months.
    • Fresh pomegranate arils, star anise pods or a cinnamon stick in each mug make it extra festive for serving.

    Nutrition Notes

    • Navel oranges add sweetness and vitamin C, plus they can promote hydration thanks to the electrolyte potassium and their high water content. Oranges contain a unique flavonoid called hesperidin that not only provides antioxidant benefits but also supports a healthy immune system.
    • Unsweetened juices such as pomegranate juice and apple juice provide antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation and support heart and brain health. Make sure to choose juices that are 100% juice, as these contain only natural fruit sugars but no added sugars.  
    • Spices including cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom and star anise provide antioxidants that can help fight against oxidative stress and inflammation. Cinnamon has even been shown to help with reducing fasting glucose levels by increasing insulin sensitivity. Spices also enhance the flavor of beverages without the need to add sugar.
