- Starbucks adds pistachio, coconut, lavender and sugar-free caramel to its year-round menu.
- The new flavors can be added to any drink, allowing for creative twists on lattes, teas and cold brews.
- Sugar-free caramel, sweetened with sucralose, is a great option for those looking to reduce added sugar.
If you’re a fan of seasonal Starbucks flavors but wish you had more options year-round, you’re in luck. Starbucks just announced it will be updating its core lineup of flavors to include four flavors: pistachio, toasted coconut, lavender and sugar-free caramel.
Pistachio, usually a seasonal flavor for winter, may already be familiar to Starbucks sippers. Sugar-free caramel is another flavor that’s making a big comeback—the flavor made a quiet launch this winter when Starbucks launched its protein milks. Lavender, too, is graduating from seasonal to year-round, and both lavender and coconut are the stars of Starbucks’ new spring menu, also announced this week. That menu, which launches on March 3, will include:
- Toasted Coconut Cream Cold Brew
- Toasted Coconut Latte
- Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato
- Iced Lavender Cream Chai
- Iced Lavender Cream Matcha
- Iced Lavender Latte
- Lavender Crème Frappuccino
But even after these new drinks have left the menu, you can add each of the four new flavors to your favorite drink any time of year, so get ready to put a fresh twist on your favorite latte, macchiato or frozen drink the next time you hit the drive-thru.
Those who love Dubai chocolate, a dark chocolate and pistachio combo that usually includes shredded phyllo, may want to try a touch of mocha sauce with a pump of pistachio syrup to recreate that dreamy dessert flavor. Pistachio has the sweetness of almond syrup but with a uniquely nutty flavor that pairs well with creamy lattes or mixed into cold brew.
Coconut may be associated with the summer months, but it’s delicious year-round, especially in candy bar-inspired mochas and in chai lattes, where it mixes beautifully with classic spices like clove and cardamom. When the sun is out, a little coconut flavor might just be the refreshing twist you need.
For a relaxing addition, lavender is another fun, on-trend syrup to try. The spring menu has a big focus on chai, and the Iced Lavender Cream Chai is an entirely new drink you might want to sample. We think lavender would also be dreamy in any tea latte, should you want to spruce up your London fog.
And best of all for caramel lovers and those who need to watch their sugar—the sugar-free caramel syrup is here to stay, and you can use it as a replacement for caramel in any of your favorite orders. Sugar-free caramel is sweetened with sucralose, a zero-calorie sweetener that you might recognize as Splenda. If you already enjoy some sucralose-sweetened foods or drinks, this flavor should hit the spot.
Whether you’re ready to try something completely new or excited to incorporate one of the new year-round flavors into your go-to favorite, Starbucks’ announcement has new options for us all—and we can’t wait to put a fresh spin on the drinks we already love.
