Today, Subway announced the return of its Fresh Fit menu, which will include healthier sandwich selections that will keep you satisfied.
The four, six-inch sandwich options will have at least 20 grams of protein, no more than 500 calories and plenty of fresh, nutritious and flavorful ingredients, from a full serving of veggies to its multigrain roll. Here are the new “feel-good” sandwich options coming to the lunch chain nationwide starting September 17.
First up, the Grilled Chicken & Avocado sandwich, which will be packed with 35 grams of protein. Its roll will hold grilled chicken, smashed avocado, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions, with the whole thing topped with smoky Baja Chipotle sauce. This sandwich is perfect to enjoy that last bit of summer flavor before the season ends.
The Ham & Turkey Stacker is just how it sounds, with oven-roasted turkey and Black Forest ham, plus lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and yellow mustard. With 20 grams of protein and lots of fibrous veggies, this is the adult version of your classic ham and turkey sandwich.
For a little more sophistication, try out the Seasoned Steak & Avocado sandwich with 35 grams of satiating protein. Lettuce, spinach, tomatoes and red onions complete this sandwich—alongside steak and avocado, of course.
And finally, the Turkey & Ranch Delite will be perfect for ranch dressing lovers. Turkey, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes and red onions drizzled with peppercorn ranch sounds utterly nutrient-packed and delicious.
All of these sandwiches boast protein, fiber, healthy fats and lower calories, making them better-for-you lunch options for when you’re on-the-go. It’s important to note that while these are healthier than Subway’s typical selection, they should be eaten in moderation. Regularly eating processed meats like deli meats could cause an increased risk of colon cancer. But at EatingWell, we are firm believers that any food and drink can be included in a healthy eating pattern, and we love that Subway is enhancing their menu by including more nutrient-packed choices.
While we wait for these Subway Fresh Fit menu options to be available, we’re going to recreate them at home with similar recipes like our Avocado, Tomato & Chicken Sandwich or George Clooney’s five-ingredient ham sandwich.
