Admittedly, I hate January. After a dizzying lineup of big holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, January just seems so dull—I dread it every year. To combat my January blues, I like to indulge in small treats that make the winter a tiny bit sweeter.
One of my favorite places to find craveworthy new sweets is Trader Joe’s. Last year, while browsing the aisles of TJ’s, I stumbled upon a delicious chocolate dessert that single-handedly carried me through winter. The Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts come in adorable bite-sized portions, perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or post-dinner treat. Unfortunately, like many of TJ’s offerings, they were only available for a limited time.
But, as the adage goes, good things come to those who wait. That’s right, Trader Joe’s Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts are officially back in stores, which means it’s time to stock up.

Trader Joe’s items notoriously garner cult followings, and its Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts are no different. Made with rich, creamy Belgian chocolate, each mini dessert features a layer of buttery shortbread, fluffy chocolate mousse, and a rich dark chocolate ganache. But that’s not all. Each mini mousse cup is topped with sprinkles, adding a playful touch and enhancing texture. While one is enough to fulfill your sweet tooth, sometimes I like to have two—maybe two and a half on a good day.
And I’m not the only person who thinks they’re irresistible. On the Trader Joe’s subreddit, one fan gave the dessert an “11/10” rating, adding that it’s “hands down one of the best TJs products I’ve tried in a long time.”
“These are just about our favorite TJ’s treat,” another fan chimed in. “Called our store in Tucson after lunch today and they were in stock here. Goin’ tomorrow to buy a couple boxes…or five!”
If, like me, your stash of leftover Christmas cookies is coming to an end, then you’d better head over to your nearest TJ’s. These are only available for a limited time, and, given there are plenty of enthusiastic customers like me, who are fully prepared to clear the freezers, you’ll want to pick up a few boxes ASAP.
