    • The Aldi Breakfast Best Egg and Cheese Pitas offer 8 grams of protein per serving.
    • This frozen breakfast heats in less than 1 minute, making it a fast and individually-wrapped option.
    • Balanced with 12 grams carbs, 8 grams fat and 150 calories, each pita helps keep you full.

I’m not sure if it’s age or the fact that my tastes have changed, but my appetite in the mornings has significantly decreased. I used to be the kind of girl who wouldn’t think twice about eating a bagel sandwich, avocado toast or a heaping bowl of yogurt and fruit to start my day. I took the old adage “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” to heart, and found that my mornings were packed with a good amount of protein that would hold me over until lunch. This, however, has changed drastically. My appetite is no longer as strong in the morning, and when I wake up, I tend to look for something small and simple. Thankfully, meals like this Aldi frozen breakfast have been a lifesaver.

Even if my appetite isn’t quite what it was in my twenties, I still strive to eat something that has a good amount of protein to help keep me feeling full. This means finding smaller items that still make eating protein easy, like individual cups of Greek yogurt, protein waffles or frozen breakfast items with eggs. Aldi is always a great spot to snag these kinds of items, and if they’re in stock, I always grab a box (or three) of the Breakfast Best Egg & Cheese Breakfast Pitas. Tasty and simple, these pitas save me during those fast-paced mornings when I need something quick and easy that doesn’t require me to cook or think.

Why Breakfast Best Egg & Cheese Pitas Frozen Breakfast Are So Great

    They’re Individually Portioned

A box of the Breakfast Best Egg & Cheese Pitas includes six half-pita pockets, or three whole sandwiches. Each pita pocket is individually wrapped, making it easy to portion out your breakfast. I’m a big fan of having portion-controlled items because not only does it make it easy to know what I’m consuming, but it also keeps the rest of the items freshly sealed, so I don’t have to worry about them going bad. Or, in this case, I don’t have to worry about freezer burn.

    They’re Packed with Protein

As mentioned, starting my day with protein is ideal, and despite the size of these breakfast pitas, there’s still a good amount of protein in each one. A single pita contains 8 grams of protein thanks to the eggs and cheese. The fact that I could get this much protein in a small pocket when I used to scramble up two eggs with toast in the mornings (around 10 grams) feels like a small miracle. And since each portion is only half a pita, if I’m feeling particularly hungry in the morning, I’ll heat up two for a total of 16 grams.

    They’re Quick to Prepare

As if these reasons weren’t good enough, I’m particularly fond of the fact that this Aldi frozen breakfast takes less than one minute to prepare. That’s right! Forty seconds in the microwave is all you need to prepare this breakfast and have a hot, ready-to-eat meal for you. I will admit that depending on your microwave, 40 seconds may not be enough time—some microwaves are less powerful than others. So be sure to keep an eye on your pita as it heats up. It’s perfectly cooked when the cheese is just starting to melt, and the egg is fully warmed through.

    They’ll Keep You Full

Not only does the 8 grams of protein help to hold me over, but this breakfast is balanced with carbohydrates (12 grams per serving) and fats (8 grams per serving). There are 4 grams of saturated fat in this pita pocket—likely coming from the cheese. In a small pita pocket that’s only 150 calories, I’m getting a balanced breakfast that will keep me feeling full and won’t feel like too much when my appetite isn’t quite there upon waking.

They Make For Great Post-Workout Snacks

One of the other reasons I love to have this Aldi breakfast on hand isn’t just for the mornings, but also for a post-workout snack. On my days off, I typically go to my yoga studio for a flow class in the morning or afternoon, and when I get back, I find myself hungry even if it’s not exactly time for lunch or dinner. These egg and cheese pitas save me during that awkward in-between period, giving me that post-workout protein and refueling with carbohydrates.

    Our Expert Take

Even if I don’t have the same type of appetite in the morning like I did in my twenties, I still know how important it is to get some protein in the morning. Thankfully, the Breakfast Best Egg & Cheese Breakfast Pitas are exactly what I need for mornings like these. They’re small enough to give me something to nibble on, quick to prepare and yet still packed with 8 grams of protein and balanced with other macronutrients (carbohydrates, healthy fats) that hold me over until lunch. And even if this Aldi frozen breakfast item is meant for the mornings, I also like having these on hand when I need a nourishing post-workout snack. They may not always be in stock, but when they are, I make sure I have a sufficient amount of room in my freezer for a few boxes.
