Three RTD launches — UPDATE Energy, Bucked Up Drive Hydration, and Life Cider X — all chose GeniusPure Alpha-GPC. Stable in liquid, high yield, and backed by clinical data showing 108% better cognitive performance at the low dose.

NNB Nutrition’s GeniusPure® Alpha-GPC has broken through to the next level. It was immediately accepted into powdered supplements thanks to its improved stability and yields, but in the beverage space, putting alpha-GPC into ready-to-drink bottles has historically been trickier for formulators. The ingredient’s hygroscopic nature made generic ingredients a poor fit for RTD applications and well-dosed powders for years. NNB solved that, and in early 2026, the payoff is showing up on shelves.

Three significant beverage launches have chosen GeniusPure in recent months:

    1. UPDATE Energy Drink‘s national relaunch with Kim Kardashian as co-founder,
    2. Bucked Up Drive Hydration developed in collaboration with golfer Bryson DeChambeau (with formulation contributions from Team PricePlow), and
    3. Life Cider X, the functional ACV drink now backed by Shawn Wells as Chief Science Officer.

Each takes a different approach to the category, and each landed on GeniusPure for the same underlying reasons: stability in liquid, superior yield, and clinical data that justifies the inclusion.

    Three Launches, One Ingredient

    • UPDATE Energy Drink: 315mg GeniusPure at the Clinical Dose

UPDATE Energy Drink relaunched on February 24, 2026, with Kim Kardashian joining as co-founder and a 4,000-store Walmart debut on March 1. Beyond the headline, the relaunch brought reformulated core flavors (Berry, Peach, and Mandarin were pulled closer to real fruit profiles), two new additions (Grape and Pineapple), and a $2.99 price point that puts it squarely in impulse-buy territory for a serious functional energy drink.

Real brands successfully using GeniusPure and enfinity® paraxanthine

The formula runs paraxanthine (enfinity®) at 300mg alongside GeniusPure Alpha-GPC at 315mg, with L-theanine and Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) completing the stack. Zero sugar, zero calories, zero caffeine.

That 315mg GeniusPure dose is the exact low-dose arm from the Kerksick clinical study — the dose that demonstrated 108% better cognitive performance than placebo in a single serving.[1] Hitting a fully disclosed, clinically studied dose of GeniusPure in a 12 fl oz RTD is rare in this category. Most energy drinks skip meaningful nootropic depth, or throw in a cosmetic 50mg that does nothing. As our partners at Bevlab noted in their coverage, “Getting 315mg of GeniusPure in a 12 fl oz RTD is a genuine differentiator.”

For the full formula and brand context, see the Bevlab article: “UPDATE Energy Drink Relaunches With Kim Kardashian… and a Formula That Actually Holds Up“. And for the full story on the other half of this formula, check our PricePlow paraxanthine deep dive: “Paraxanthine: Caffeine’s Major Metabolite for Laser-Targeted Energy“.

    • Bucked Up Drive Hydration: GeniusPure in a Nootropic Hydration RTD

NNB Nutrition is proud to announce GeniusPure Alpha-GPC, which is patent-pending stabilized alpha-GPC at 70% or 90%!

Bucked Up Drive Hydration is a 16 fl oz RTD developed with golfer Bryson DeChambeau, with formulation contributions from Team PricePlow (more on that in our full Drive Hydration article coming soon). Bryson’s brief was specific: a hydration drink with real cognitive support and a light energy kick, not another electrolyte water.

The formula delivers. The electrolyte foundation is solid: 260mg sodium, 210mg potassium, and 45mg magnesium, plus a real B-vitamin stack (niacin, folate at 110% DV, B12 at 100% DV) and zinc at 50% DV. Energy comes in at 50mg caffeine via InnovaBean patented green coffee extract, paired with L-theanine to keep the experience smooth. L-glycine rounds out the formula as an osmolyte that supports cellular hydration alongside the electrolyte matrix.

GeniusPure anchors the nootropic side of the formula. Exact active doses weren’t disclosed at time of publication, but Bucked Up’s team was drawn to the ingredient specifically because of the “Double Your Focus” clinical story. The name communicates the benefit clearly to buyers and consumers alike, and it resonated immediately. Sweetness and chuggability are both there, while keeping calories at 10 per can.

Drive Hydration launches first at Bucked Up retail locations in South Jordan, UT, with Dick’s Sporting Goods and golf course distribution to follow. Full early breakdown on Bevlab: “Bucked Up Drive Hydration: First Look at Bryson DeChambeau’s Collab“.

    • Life Cider X: GeniusPure in an ACV-First Functional Beverage

NNB Nutrition’s precision fermentation is solving a huge challenge for beverage formulators. UPDATE Energy and Life Cider X prove it works. From energy drinks to hard ciders, functional beverages are evolving fast.

Life Cider X brings GeniusPure into a different category entirely. Created by Jon Pierre Francia and now backed by CSO Shawn Wells, it’s an apple cider vinegar drink built around a full 15g ACV dose per 12 fl oz can, with nootropic support layered on top.

GeniusPure Alpha-GPC comes in at 150mg here, working alongside enfinity® paraxanthine (200mg), TyroPure™ fermented L-Tyrosine (1g), and taurine (1g). The 150mg dose fits the design: cognitive support within a formula built primarily around metabolic and gut health benefits, not raw stimulation. Shawn Wells’ involvement brings the right formulation credibility to a product this layered — and his history with novel ingredient stacking shows in the result.

GeniusPure Alpha-GPC: The Ingredient Behind the Launches

    • Why Alpha-GPC Struggled in RTDs

Standard alpha-GPC has a serious problem for beverage formulators: it’s hygroscopic. In its purest form (near 99% concentration), it turns into a gel within seconds of air exposure, and in a liquid application that instability translates directly to shelf life and consistency issues. Most commercially available alpha-GPC stabilizes at around 50% yield using silica or calcium phosphate carriers, which helps with clumping but limits potency per gram.

NNB Nutrition is an innovative ingredient development company with an elite team of over 100 scientists from over 10 countries.

This is a problem NNB has solved before. The supplement industry is familiar with glycerol, a useful osmolyte that fell out of favor for years because of the same hygroscopic instability. NNB’s fix there was HydroPrime, a stabilized glycerol that brought the ingredient back to mainstream use. GeniusPure is the alpha-GPC equivalent: non-hygroscopic, shelf-stable in liquid, and available at yields that standard product can’t touch.

    • Higher Yield, Better Economics

GeniusPure is available in 70% and 90% yield. Formulators using the 90% version can achieve the same effective alpha-GPC dose with 30% less raw material compared to standard 50% product. That either reduces cost or creates room for higher functional doses in a finished can — often both. In space-constrained applications like capsules, it’s an even bigger win.

The full technical breakdown is in our main article, “GeniusPure Alpha-GPC: Stable Alpha-GPC 70% and 90% from NNB Nutrition“.

    • What Alpha-GPC Does

Data shows GeniusPure Alpha-GPC boosts cognitive and exercise performance after just one dose. With 90% yield and unmatched stability, NNB Nutrition is setting a standard for rapid, noticeable results.

Alpha-GPC (alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine) is a bioavailable choline source that the body uses as a precursor to acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter responsible for learning, memory consolidation, and neuromuscular signaling.[2] Research shows alpha-GPC supplementation can upregulate acetylcholine levels, supporting the ability to assimilate new information and sustain attention. Beyond cognitive effects, studies have demonstrated ergogenic benefits including strength, power output, and even growth hormone improvements, which is why you’ve seen it cross from nootropic stacks into pre-workouts and now RTDs.

    • The Clinical Data: “Double Your Focus”

The case for GeniusPure in beverage formulas got substantially stronger with a 2024 clinical study by Chad Kerksick, President of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial was the first to demonstrate acute cognitive benefits from alpha-GPC in healthy individuals — no chronic loading required, no confounding stack.[1]

Twenty resistance-trained men tested two doses of GeniusPure against placebo across validated cognitive assessments (Stroop test, Flanker test, and N-Back test) and physical performance measures:

      • High dose (630mg Alpha-GPC / 700mg of 90% GeniusPure): 150% better cognitive performance vs. placebo[1]
      • Low dose (315mg Alpha-GPC / 350mg of 90% GeniusPure): 108% better cognitive performance vs. placebo[1]
      • Physical performance: 2.5-10% improvements across force and power metrics; high-dose group showed a statistically significant increase in upper-body peak force production (p = 0.043)[1]

The low-dose result (more than doubling cognitive performance versus placebo from a single serving at 315mg) is where NNB’s “Double Your Focus” campaign originates. It’s also why UPDATE’s 315mg GeniusPure dose is worth noting specifically: that’s not a guess at what works, it’s the dose the study used.

Full study details are in our article, “NNB Nutrition’s GeniusPure Alpha-GPC Acutely Boosts Cognitive Performance in New Clinical Study“.

    GeniusPure’s Beverage Moment

Three major RTD launches converging on the same alpha-GPC ingredient in the same timeframe isn’t a coincidence. GeniusPure’s stability profile removed the barrier that kept alpha-GPC out of liquids for years. The Kerksick clinical data gave brands a concrete, communicable claim. And the “Double Your Focus” hook works across categories: it fits the performance energy angle of UPDATE, the cognitive-edge pitch of Drive Hydration, and the functional credibility play of Life Cider X.

That cross-category versatility is what it takes to gain real traction in RTDs. NNB Nutrition has built it, and now the major brands have come.
