Trader Joe’s has always been the cool, trendy little sibling of the grocery store chains. It doesn’t just follow the latest food crazes—like Dubai chocolate or cottage cheese—it helps create them. Case in point: Patio Potato Chips, Cauliflower Gnocchi, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups—and, of course, the now-iconic Mini Canvas Tote Bags.
And for its latest launch, Trader Joe’s is doing a little bit of both, taking one of social media’s most beloved soup recipes from last season and putting it right on shelves, while simultaneously reigniting the buzz all over again. So, if you still haven’t gotten around to making the viral recipe yourself, here’s your chance to try one of the coziest, most talked-about soups on the internet—no cooking required.
Trader Joe’s Launches New Lasagna Soup
Trader Joe’s is now serving up its own ready-to-eat version of the viral lasagna soup—and it’s definitely doing the original justice. Fans are calling it “the best soup [they’ve] ever had.”
We’re quite familiar with lasagna soup ourselves. We’ve got not one, but seven recipes for it on our site—some made on the stovetop, some in a slow cooker, and even an Instant Pot version. So, we completely understand why home cooks (and the internet) couldn’t get enough of it when it took off in 2024.
It tastes like a cross between a creamy pasta, a cozy soup, and a hearty casserole—all in one bowl. On a cold day, there’s truly nothing better. And as much as we love our own recipes, there are nights when we’re more than happy to let Trader Joe’s handle dinner.
Trader Joe’s take combines a creamy, savory-seasoned tomato broth with al dente mafalda pasta (think mini lasagna noodles), ground turkey crumbles, and a blend of Asiago and Romano cheeses to create what it calls the “comfort food of all comfort foods.”
Fans can’t seem to get enough, admitting to easily eating “the entire container in one sitting.”
Others had suggestions to make it even cozier (if that’s even possible). “Add a dollop of ricotta and it’s even better!” one commenter wrote. “Take it to the next level by dipping slices of Parmesan cheese into it. Literal heaven,” added another. Personally, we’ll be scooping it up with our favorite Cornbread Crisps.
The limited-edition Lasagna Soup comes in 20-ounce containers for $4.99 and will be available all comfort-food season long, from fall through the end of winter. That is, if fans of this viral favorite don’t sweep it off shelves before then.
