Trader Joe’s cookie scene is unmatched. Sure, Costco has giant variety platters, and Sam’s Club now offers single (and warm!) to-go brookies. But Trader Joe’s has such a robust portfolio of cookies year-round, from All the Things Cookies to Joe-Joe’s to the new Peppermint Brookies, which debuted this holiday season.
But the bittersweet catch with TJ’s is that cookies come and cookies go. Like other snacks and treats at the hibiscus-clad grocery store, many of these sensational, unique flavors are only around for a limited time. Such is the case for these new shortbread cookies that are quickly winning fans over on social media.
Trader Joe’s Releases New Tart Cherry & Pecan Shortbread Cookies for a Limited Time
Trader Joe’s has quite the legacy of shortbread hits, from All Butter Apricot Shortbread Cookies to occasionally stocking Walker’s, arguably the OG, top dog in the shortbread game. And now TJ’s is offering a new limited-edition flavor: Tart Cherry & Pecan Shortbread Cookies.
With a warm, nutty, and oh-so-buttery flavor, this shortbread offers a much-needed alternative to all those ultra-sweet sugar cookies served this time of year. Like previous shortbread varieties, the new flavor is available in a 10-count box for $3.79. And it’s still sourced from pro shortbread bakers in the U.K. In fact, according to the TJ’s website, each cookie contains “nearly one quarter butter, by weight.”
And shoppers are obsessed. On Reddit, a TJ’s shopper posted about the new cookies, saying, “Bought these today and thought they were delicious because they weren’t overly sweet and had nice tart bits with good salt balance and butter flavor.”
“Finally got a box. I love them,” another Redditor chimed in. “Will go back for more. It’s a small miracle that I’m sticking to only two a day.”
“I bought these the other day on a whim, and with an open mind,” someone else said. “My wife devoured the entire box in a couple hours. Must’ve been good!”
In another Reddit thread with equally enthusiastic hype, one shopper shared, “Bought a box on a whim and found myself making an extra trip the next day to buy multiple backups. Absolutely outstanding!”
Whether you’re stocking up like these new mega fans or you’re just interested in trying TJ’s latest cookie creation, you better hurry to your local store if you want to snag a box. But if it’s already sold out at your Trader Joe’s, just remember: There’s always a new cookie in the TJ’s queue.
