Recently, shoppers were raving about a restaurant-style salsa, and the reviews were so convincing, I immediately had to snag a jar for my myself.
Trader Joe’s Salsa Taquera
Shoppers can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s Salsa Taquera. The tomatillo-based sauce contains a variety of spicy and savory ingredients, including tomatoes, roasted green chile peppers, jalapeños, habanero peppers, and onions.
One ingredient that sets this salsa apart from the rest is mango purée concentrate. The addition offers a subtle sweetness that perfectly complements the spicy undertones. This medium-heat salsa is the perfect dip for your favorite tortilla chips, but can also be used in burritos, taco bowls, and cheesy casseroles. We can see it being delicious alongside TJ’s mini chicken tacos, too.

My Honest Review of Trader Joe’s Salsa Taquera
Every Sunday, I head to Trader Joe’s to stock up on my weekly staples, including my favorite Italian pasta sauce, salad kits, and sandwich starters. Along with my go-tos, I like to take the trip as an opportunity to try something I haven’t had before, such as Spicy & Sweet Creamy Pepper Dip or its new Lasagna Soup. So, when I saw the Redditors praising this salsa, I immediately added it to my shopping list.
I was thrilled to see that the first ingredient is tomatillos, because I love the bright, tangy flavor of salsa verde. I paired the salsa with a simple white corn tortilla chip and instantly fell in love. It is a thin salsa, similar to one you’ve likely had in restaurants. It has an excellent balance of sweet and spicy flavor, which I would consider on par with medium heat levels.
If you’re sensitive to spicy food but still want to give it a try, I would suggest pairing it with sour cream or mixing in softened cream cheese to use as a sauce over shredded pork or chicken. Overall, this is one product I’m thrilled to add to my regular rotation. Plus, at $2.49 for a 12-ounce jar, it feels less like a splurge and more like a budget-friendly upgrade.
