Walmart’s bakery section is usually packed with delectable desserts, unique treats, and classic baked goods, and the grocery chain only amplifies its selection for the holidays. How could we forget Walmart’s spinach-and-ricotta-filled pastry that was dropped right before Christmas one year, which had fans calling it “hands-down one of the best” bakery items? Now, Walmart is coming for another grocery chain with a new holiday bakery item that rivals one of Trader Joe’s most beloved seasonal desserts.
Walmart Introduces New Marketside Raspberry Kringle
Arguably one of Trader Joe’s most popular bakery items is its Danish Kringles. They are often offered as a seasonal treat and tend to disappear from store shelves almost as fast as they arrive. Fans have even dubbed TJ’s Pumpkin Kringle “the best [expletive] thing they’ve ever tasted in their life,” while others rate the Almond iteration a “110/10.”
Now, Walmart is releasing its own iteration of the fan-favorite TJ’s pastry with a new Kringle just in time for the holidays. The grocery chain’s in-house bakery just dropped a Marketside Raspberry Kringle that’s a near-identical look-alike for the beloved Trader Joe’s treat, and it’s an ideal accompaniment to breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Walmart’s Raspberry Kringle is a delicious Danish-style pastry packed with a thick layer of sweet raspberry filling and drenched in a light white icing. The 20-ounce package means that the large dessert is easy to share, and the festive look makes it a great addition to any holiday spread. Or, enjoy the flaky pastry and its rich raspberry flavor solo—it’s just that good.
“You can see that nice layer of raspberry filling in there,” says Gary Miller, better known as @thatc0mpt0nfoodie on Instagram, in his video review showing off the pastry before taking a bite. He recommends warming it up, and pops it in the microwave for about 45 seconds.
“Ooooh,” he smiles before suggesting that it needs some milk to go with it and dipping the pastry. “I’m going to give the Walmart Marketside Kringle an 8.5 out of 10.”
“Those are amazing,” commented one fan. Miller agreed, adding that the Walmart Kringle is “so fire.”
Walmart’s Kringle currently retails for $9.97, while Trader Joe’s costs an extra two cents at $9.99. Unlike Trader Joe’s, there’s no indication that the Marketside Raspberry Kringle is a seasonal find at Walmart, so there may be hope that the big-box grocery chain will carry this fan-loved treat all year-round. But, given how fast they go at TJ’s, you may want to head to your local Walmart as soon as possible if you’re interested in trying the giant pastry for yourself.
